The Richland High School is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and student-centered individual to serve as High School Cheerleading Coach for the 2026–2027 school year.
Position Summary
The High School Cheerleading Head Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and inclusive cheer program that promotes school spirit, teamwork, leadership, and positive sportsmanship. The coach will ensure the program operates in compliance with Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) regulations, district policies, and safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, organize, and conduct cheerleading practices, tryouts, performances, and competitions

Supervise cheerleaders at athletic events, school functions, and competitions

Promote teamwork, discipline, leadership, and positive sportsmanship

Teach proper cheerleading techniques, routines, and safety procedures

Ensure compliance with all MSHSAA rules, district policies, and safety guidelines

Maintain accurate records including eligibility, participation, and required documentation

Communicate effectively with students, parents, administration, and athletic staff

Assist with fundraising, scheduling, and coordination of cheer-related events

Serve as a positive role model and uphold ethical coaching standards
Qualifications

Prior cheerleading coaching or cheerleading experience preferred

Strong knowledge of cheer techniques, routines, and safety practices

Ability to motivate and positively influence high school students

Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and school events
The selected candidate must meet all MSHSAA head coach eligibility requirements, including but not limited to:

Completion of MSHSAA-approved coaching education and certification

Completion of sports safety training as required by MSHSAA

Completion of CPR/AED and First Aid certification

Successful completion of a background check in accordance with district policy

Ongoing compliance with annual MSHSAA coaching renewal requirements
